Weekend Match Round Up 9th/10th December
With the recent bad weather this week there wasn’t many games this weekend as Wirral Council had closed their grass pitches. One game that managed to survive was the U10 Lions
With a superb team performance that earned the Lions a quarter final victory in the Top Cup against Vauxhall.
The Lions started brightly creating a number of chances throughout the first half that resulted in some superb saves and last ditch defending from Vauxhall to keep the score 0-0.
For much of the first half the Lions kept possession and continue to improve their ability to put together some superb attacking passages of play. However, they had their keeper to thank for making a superb save late in the first half to ensure the team didn’t fall behind undeservedly.
The second half saw the Lions finally get the breakthrough they deserved with Igor bravely heading past the keeper.
He followed this up with his second of the day after a superb assist from Archie down the left.
The defence and midfield didn’t let their effort levels drop protecting their keeper and ensuring a clean sheet.
The Lions progress to the semi finals and their excellent form continues!
POTM trophies went to Archie for his great involvement in our best passing moves and Frankie for his hard work both with and without the ball throughout the game.
Tranmere Rovers
A Massive Thankyou to Nates Tickets who provided tickets for some of our players to enjoy the Tranmere vs Newport game. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves seeing Rovers come from behind to win 2-1.
