So the last fixtures before Christmas 2023, the weather has behaved itself this week so majority of games went ahead. Here’s some of the reports we got.

U10 Dragons

The Dragons got back to winning ways with a good team performance against Shore Villa in a friendly.

Jacob’s hard work closing down Shore Villa’s attempts to play out from the back earned him a deserved goal to put the team ahead. This was followed by a brilliant solo effort from Caiden who finished a drive forward with a cut back on to his weaker left foot followed by a curled finish into the bottom corner!

Gianluca and Josh had another strong showing defensively to ensure a clean sheet for Jack and the team.

The team have had a tough few months, but showed their grit this weekend and got to enjoy the spoils of a victory.

POTM trophies went to Jacob for his tireless work in midfield, he’s always willing to do the hard running to defend. Ollie-James picked up the second trophy for an assured performance in CM – he worked hard throughout the game to prevent Shore Villa playing through the midfield and was excellent with his passing after winning the ball back.

U10 Lions

The Lions played out a draw with Heswall in a game of few chances.

Heswall deserve credit for their effort to play out from the back, but the Lions hard work to close down and win the ball back high didn’t quite pay off with the goal they needed.

Defensively the Lions were not troubled too much, but credit to Dylan who had possibly his best game for New Ferry Rangers. He won every 1v1 battle and continues to work hard to improve as a player.

Dylan deservedly picked up the POTM trophy for his performance and the Lions unbeaten run continues with one final game left of 2023 next week.

U11 Blacks

U11 Blacks played Wallasey Wanderers a team that had previously beaten them in an earlier match. This time our U11’s Blacks were triumphant. Playing football the right way from back to front. The coaches were over the moon with the players.

U12 Reds

Great game from the U12 Reds today who played Highflying Moreton Brazil in the cup. The lads run out 5 – 0 victors to seal a spot in the Top cup Semi final.

A Hatrick from striker Ollie Johnson saw him also bag Away MOM

Thomas Nugent got Home MOM for his work rate and listening to instructions from the coach’s & assisting one of the best goals I’ve seen at U12’s  with a combination of 5 one touch passes which lead to a tap in at the back post.

An early door KO saw the U12 Whites bolt out the blocks with a fast tempo, Going 1 up after a lovely threaded through ball by the centre back Alfie Tallman who played in Frankie Robbo who finished emphatically. After the restart and a couple of neat passes Ollershaw capitalised on a loose ball and passed it into the net.

Substitutions brought an instant injection of life into the New Ferry System as they looked to probe for a winner. The midfield/defence felt like it became an impenetrable unit as Ollershaw attempted to break through without any success, the lads quickly transitioned from defence to counter attack. A scare came which saw a brilliant goal line clearance keeping the score locked at 1-1.

Late into the game a fluid attack developed seeing both midfield/attackers combining to create a scintillating last minute goal. Frankie Robbo this time turning provider for Leighton Minshall to make it 2-1. Late substitutes helped maintain the lead with the subs bringing stability and energy that allowed the whites to progress into the next round of the cup.

U15’s

U15’s Posted a 5-1 victory against Bromborough and Eastham Vipers with a really composed performance where they played some great football. A result that matches the recent performances from the team.

Youth Team

The youth team finally had a fixture that’s gone ahead this week. Having not played a meaningful game since mid October the lads looked to get the wheels turning again. Today’s fixture was a Qtr final vs West Kirby Utd Blues. We took the lead after Louie Smith was brought down in the box. Ben Duff stepped up to slot calmly into the bottom left corner. It was soon 2-0. Keeper Zack Gray sent the ball route one with a monster kick for Jack Cartlidge who rounded the keeper and tap home. In the second period after some criminal misses in front of goal & a visit from a police helicopter over the park including a missed penalty & follow up. It was Joel foster who made it 3-0. West Kirby’s defence opening up for him. Which he duly obliged & drove through midfield to hit home a fantastic solo finish. West Kirby got a late consultation goal when Joel was unable to prevent the ball from crossing the line. Game finished 3-1 and see’s us set up a semi final vs the other West kirby in our division.

HMOM – Zack Gray

AMOM – Joel Foster
